Valentines Gifts - for her!

Valentines Day is just around the corner, so check out our gift guide below for gifts that your wife or girlfriend will love.

Forget 'sexy' underwear and cheap chocolates, we're here to recommend thoughtful gifts that will make her smile and let her know how much you care.

A Beautiful Piece of Furniture or Mirror

This may sound boring to you, but if she's anything like us your wife or partner loves beautiful things for her home - treat her to a gorgeous new mirror, like the stunning vintage style one pictured, or a beautiful new desk or dressing table. She'll love rearranging the room to incorporate the new piece, and it will make her smile each time she sees it.

A Piece of Art
Why not search for a beautiful painting or piece of art that she can display in the home? We love fabulous company More Than Words, who provide personalised bespoke typography, like the beautiful piece picture above.

A Flower Arrangement
Forget supermarket (or worse, petrol station!) bouquets, we're talking beautiful, bespoke flower arrangements, incorporating her favourite flowers and colours.

The Blossom Tree Boutique Florists in Melbourne, Derbyshire have a gorgeous selection, and will help you to put together the perfect bouquet. We love the one pictured, which comes with a gorgeous pastel pink vase.

Breakfast In Bed
Treat her to a delicious, homemade breakfast in bed - we suggest toasted bagels with smoked salmon a scrambled egg, or yummy Eggs Benedict. Check out BBC Food for recipe help, or try Gordon Ramsay's Eggs Benedict Recipe. If you think you'll struggle with the Hollandaise sauce, there's no harm in cheating, M&S do a great ready made version1

A Framed Photograph
Choose your favourite photograph of the two of you or of a happy memory and display it in a pretty photo frame. We love this one, which can hold 9 images for a fantastic photo montage. Available instore from Strawberry House Interiors, Castle Donington.

A Bespoke Handmade Card
We love the handmade cards from Golden Apple Designs - all cards are unique and personal to you, and available in your choice of design and colours so you can create a truly personal card.
Alternatively, why not make your own? Visit Craft Superstore to buy card, envelopes, paper and pretty embellishments.

The Perfect Afternoon Tea!

Hello!

We're in that in-between time between Christmas & Easter which can be a bit boring and dreary. A great way to brighten up these bleak wintry months is with fantastic parties and social occasions, and what could be nicer than enjoying a pretty afternoon tea with friends to brighten up a miserable January day!

Here are our essential items for a beautiful, sophisticated Afternoon Tea:

Tea

The most obvious item required for an afternoon tea! Choose traditional tea or select a variety of specialty teas for an extra sophisticated occasion - Lapsang Souchong, Earl Grey, Lady Grey, Assam, Ceylong or Darjeeling.

A Pretty Tea Set
Tea should be served in a real china teapot with china cups and saucers.

Cakes and Sandwiches
From macaroons to dainty cucumber sandwiches with the crusts cut off, afternoon tea is the perfect time to treat yourself to an indulgent treat. Display your wares on a beautiful cake plate or tiered stand.

Flowers
Feminine flowers such as tea roses, peonies and sweet peas in pastel colours are the perfect blooms to adorn your afternoon tea table.

Pop into Strawberry House in Castle Donington to view our selection of pretty items, including vases, cake stands and so much more!

Strawberry House ♥'s Shabby Chic!

Here at Strawberry House we love Shabby Chic style - beautiful distressed or antique furniture, combined with floral fabrics and furnishings, soft pastel colours and pretty feminine flowers.

Here are a selection of items that we recommend to help you achieve a beautiful Shabby Chic interior in your own home:

Furniture
A handpainted dresser in which to store your collection of stunning plates and crockery can make a fantastic focal point in a shabby chic kitchen, whilst this gorgeous chest of drawers would work well in any room - display a pretty vase of tea roses on top of it, or place in the hallway with a vintage telephone.

Lighting
Add a touch of elegance to your room with a glamourous antique gold chandelier.

Accessories

Finish off your interior with interesting objects and vintage finds.

Jugs are a fantastic accessory for the kitchen or bathroom, and are a great way of displaying pretty blooms and flowers.

An ornate photo frame is a fantastic way to complete your look and display sentimental photographs - why not find some old black and white photographs for a chic vintage look.

No interior is complete without a gorgeous mirror. Choose an ornate mirror in white rather than gold, to keep the look simple and stylish.

A vintage floral cake stand is a pretty and feminine accessory for the kitchen - when you're not using it for afternoon tea why not use it as a cute alternative to a fruit bowl.

All of these items are available instore, and we have a fantastic 25% off sale on selected items at the moment so why not pop in and find a beautiful item for home.

Welcome to 2011!

Welcome to 2011! We hope that you had a fabulous Christmas, and New Year. We don't know about you but the house is a bit worse for wear after the hectic festive period, and looking a bit empty now that the Christmas Decorations have been taken down!

Here are our top tips to breathe some new life into your home this new year...

Have a clearout
Start the new year with a thorough home clearout - give away those old clothes that you never wear, sort through your kitchen cupboards and get rid of all of the unwanted mess and clutter leftover from Christmas - you'll feel loads better afterwards and ready to start the new year with a tidy, organised home!

Spring clean
It's not quite Spring yet, but after you've finished your clearout what better time for an intense deep clean, to leave your home refreshed and squeaky clean.

Replace your scented candles
Perfect for changing the atmosphere of your home. Put away the Frankincense, Cranberry and Mulled Wine scented candles until next year, and replace them with Linen, Freesia and Lily, to fill your home with fresh Spring fragrance and create clean, relaxing atmosphere.

Flowers
Now that the tree, holly and Christmas wreaths are gone, the house may be looking a little bare. Fill the empty space with lovely seasonal flowers such as snowdrops, tulips and sweetpeas. Pop into Strawberry House Interiors to find a lovely vase, jug or container to display your blooms in.

Accessories
You may not want to redecorate your whole home, so why not replace and refresh you accessories? A new mirror can brighten up your room, whilst new cushions and artwork can change the style of your home decor.

Hope to see you in the shop soon!
